Might be this unit:

I guess that the unit was a part of the Mexican border control, even though it was hardly local to that place, prior to shipping out to Europe after the Zimmermann Telegram was revealed some time later.

Company B would have come from Raleigh NC according to the early pages of the history.

I now see that page 6 of the history does state that the unit served on the Mexican border at El Paso prior to war.
