MaureenE Posted 15 July , 2017 Share Posted 15 July , 2017 Online map 1938, March. Sketch Map of Waziristan British Library catalogue reference IOR/L/PS/12/1960, f 258. Qatar Digital Library. I assume the place name is Wana, located towards the bottom left hand corner, in South Waziristan. I can't see Bozai mentioned. Wikipedia says Wana (Wanna) was used as a headquarters by the British forces in South Waziristan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanna,_Pakistan Wana Imperial Gazetteer of India Cheers Maureen
Terry_Reeves Posted 15 July , 2017 Share Posted 15 July , 2017 (edited) Simon I think it is Bar Bozai in the Shakai Valley. There are a number of mentions on it on-line as well as location maps. The terrain looks about right as well. The cross hairs on this map show it close to Wana, per Maureene's post. http://www.tiptopglobe.com/city?i=1759571&n=Bar Bozai Modern pilots map of the area: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanna,_Pakistan#/media/File:Wana-NGA-Tactical-Pilotage-Chart.jpg TR Edited 15 July , 2017 by Terry_Reeves

Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 15 July , 2017 Share Posted 15 July , 2017 Dear Simon, Many thanks for posting this, which I found to be of great interest. I have, for example, researched the lives of Political V. M. H. Cox (Lt-Col: the last Resident in Waziristan), and G. A. Swift (Zhob Militia, later IP), and hold their medals. Cox is shown in May 1926 in New Zealand on an IA Hockey Tour, and his court-mounted group; Swift in 1916, and medals and miniatures... Kindest regards, Kim.
