Remembered Today:

Severely Wounded Soldiers - Process

Hello,

I am writing a book. While it is fictional, it is based on true events that I want to be as accurate as possible. I am having a difficult time finding the process for sending an American soldier back to the U.S. Oklahoma, actually. I am finding a lot of information about the draft and that process, but I have a severely wounded soldier who has been sent home to be treated/die, really. I am looking for how that may have been executed if anyone knows anything or at least a process I can base it off of. I am looking out of keywords to search. If anyone could be of any assistance, that would be wonderful. Thank you.

The website was very useful, I just need to see what happens next after a soldier is unfit to fight anymore. How did they get home?

Harvard University has some material, including some digitised texts, which might help you to get some of the picture as far as US Forces go. Try a Google.
