Remembered Today:

British Red Cross & Order of St John of Jerusalem Certificate

Folks,

I made a great discovery today in an old storage box of mine of a number of items I had collected many years ago and lost track of.

One item was this certificate. I bought it over twenty years ago from a book dealer and have not seen one since.

Can anyone shed any light on why the certificate was awarded and who Mr J. T. Hardman (I think) was?

Many thanks,

Matthew

p.s.  I have just found out that he was an orderly at the Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme Military Auxiliary Hospital, which would fit with where I bought it.

Thanks Craig - I will take a look.

Is this certificate a common thing? Its just that I have only ever seen the one I have.

Cheers,

Matthew

I think it was a standard thing for the volunteers - if you look at the slideshow of images at the bottom of the page then there is another example -http://www.redcross.org.uk/About-us/Who-we-are/History-and-origin/First-World-War/Volunteers-during-WW1
