True, but your original thread has been piggy backed.  We don't know when the artilleryman referred to in post 23, enlisted.

It may be less than 12 months, or more.

Yes, but your advice was to (and quoted) Duncan:

Derby Scheme or conscript - he had less than 12 months service. Unless Duncan is mistaken and he volunteered earlier.
