potty5 Posted 8 May , 2017 Share Posted 8 May , 2017 Dear forum members, I am doing a project regarding a soldier on the village memorial who died of wounds on January 15, 1917 following an attack on Munich Trench by the 22nd Manchesters on January 11. To understand the attack further, does anybody have a trench map of the area please. Thanks very much, Mark.
mancpal Posted 8 May , 2017 Share Posted 8 May , 2017 Mark, Can't help with the map unfortunately but I'm sure somebody will. You could also contact the Manchester Regt Forum whose members have been helpful to me in the past. If your man was an original battalion volunteer you may find his platoon photograph in The Manchester Book of Honour. However, if you don't know the appearance of the soldier you won't be able to pick him out as the accompanying list to each photo doesn't say who is where. I think my grandfather would almost certainly have been there around the dates of your interest, Regards Simon
