I AM LOOKING FOR SOME ASSISTANCE IN FINDING OUT ANY MORE DETAIL REF A FRIENDS RELATIVE WHO SERVED IN THE MONMOUTH SHIRE REGIMENT AND THE RFC.

WL LEWIS PTE MONMOUTH-SHIRE REGT 1980 THEN RAF 25998.I HAVE ONLY GOT HIS MEDAL CARD AND MEDALS TO GO ON BUT BELIEVE HE LIKE ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE FAMILY WAS IN 1ST MONMOUTH-SHIRE REGT AS HE ENTERED THEATRE 13.02.15.I WOULD LIKE TO ESTABLISH IF POSSIBLE WHICH COMPANY AND IF THE FAMILY HISTORY IS POSSIBLT CORRECT THAT HE WAS GASSED AT SOME POINT AND WENT TO THE RAF AS A RESULT .SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO LOOK FOR HIS RAF/RFC UNIT WOULD BE APPRECIATED OR ANY DETAILS OF HIS SERVICE

Find my Past has an Air Force record for William Leonard Lewis born in 1890.

Date current engagement commenced  24/5/1916  R F C  and 1/4/1918 R A F   discharged 3/4/1920.

Civilian Occupation  Fitter

Former service   1/3rd Monmouthshire Regiment.

Served 39 Squadron
