Remembered Today:

Avro 504s A8571 and A9781

A friend has photographs of two Avros from training units that were involved in what look like landing accidents.  I know that A8571 was a 504A and A9781 was a 504A or J, but that's all.

I'll be grateful if anyone has further information.

A8571 was with 28 RS at Castle Bromwich by 25 May 1917. I've no entry against A9781, but A9779 & A9780 were with 63 TS and A9782 was with 28 TS as Castle Brom by 17 September 1917 and we all know that it wasn't unusual for small batches of consecutively numbered machines to be allotted to the same unit. Is the background the same on both pics - the shed layout at CB had some fairly unique features.

Many thanks for the information.

A8571 is shown with on its back with wings removed in what looks like an open field - no visible buildings.  A9781 is among bell tents with wooden huts in the background.

I'll send the photos on to you.
