River97 Posted 7 April , 2017 Share Posted 7 April , 2017 (edited) Rest in peace, gone and not forgotten. Wow, wow, wow. I have visited the grave of Annie Egan, shortly after I put her forward. She is buried amongst her boys who she nursed after they contracted an infectious disease and died on North Head, Sydney. It is a small cemetery with only a central plaque commemorating those service members who are buried there. Annie and a fellow nurse who also died, Elizabeth McGregor, have been mentioned and written about quite often and the history of the Quarantine Station is well known. They both just got missed, nobody noticed Elizabeths service records or Annie's evidence. It is such a privilege and an honour to bring this special lady in from the cold and give her the recognition she so dearly deserves. A person at work mentioned this special place which sparked me to dig and now they are both in. Two nurses who died three days apart in the same place and are buried in the same cemetery. Just wonderful. For anyone who has heard of the Quarantine Station on North Head it is one of the most haunted sites in Sydney. They have regular ghost tours and there have been many sightings. There is the ghost of a nurse up at the hospital precinct. The belief is that ghost is Annie Egan. I've never brought in a recognised ghost and if so, maybe this little lady can now sleep peacefully. They will both now be remembered forever. Edited 4 June , 2021 by River97
