This is the story of the Denbigh Territorials in the 4th Battalion (Denbighshire) Royal Welsh Fusiliers from August 1914 until September 1915. The book is an updated Kindle eBook version of the 1999 paperback. The ebook is linked here :All That We Had We Gave

The 1999 first edition was printed by Gee and Son (Denbigh) , Chapel Street , Denbigh. This edition has 17,700 words , with added uptodate research and is full of quotes from the men who went through the war. And from some who did not survive the war. Based in Denbigh , the author concentrates mostly on the Denbigh and District men and officers but seeks to cover the Battalion as a whole. All That We Had We Gave was reviewed in Y Ddraig Goch , the journal of the RWF, by Nick Lock in 2003. " This book is very much a local history production ...it paints a useful picture of preparation of a surprising number of other auxilliary forces that also recruited in Denbighshire , the Battalion's training in Northampton and the battles at Neuve Chapelle , Aubers Ridge and Festubert are covered. Many personal accounts of the Denbigh men are included with a large amount of biographical detail on all ranks of D Company makes this a valuable resource. All That We Had We Gave is a valuable addition to the history of the RWF in the Great War."
500 paperback copies were printed in 1999 and it is now out of print. The author has now transferred the publication to Kindle eBook , whilst adding to it now that additional information has come to light over the past 19 years since it was first published.
Many old Denbigh family names are in the book , along with street names from the town. Casualty lists and Rolls of Honour helps those interested in family research. The book tries to describe events from the Other Ranks point of view , using their own words.

There has been a update of this book

"For Your Tomorrow We Gave Our Today” commemorates the sacrifice of more than 150 young men from Denbigh who never came home.
The book, sponsored by local law firm Swayne Johnson, was a labour of love for Denbigh Community Archive (DCA) volunteers who researched and traced the stories behind the names of the fallen. Available Dec 2021 from DCA.
