Melanie James Posted 8 March , 2017 Share Posted 8 March , 2017 The Institute of Cornish Studies is planning to publish a new volume in 2018 to coincide with the centenary of the 1918 armistice. It will focus exclusively on Cornwall and the First World War. There is a paucity of literature specifically on Cornwall during the war. Our aim is to add to the historiography of the war itself and provide new understanding of the county’s contribution. The project will be lead by the University of Exeter’s Research Director of the Cornwall campus in Penryn, Garry Tregidga, and Melanie James. Melanie has an MA in British First World War Studies. Her dissertation examined the influence of pre-war imperial propaganda on the Cornish response to the declaration of war in 1914. This is a call for papers. Whilst we are looking to cover the entire chronology of the war, the journal will not be limited to chronological events. We will consider papers covering a wide variety of subjects including specific family histories, villages and towns. The journal will open with an article which covers the pre-war period to the recruitment march of 1915. If you are interested in submitting a paper, please send an abstract of it to Melanie (Melanie.James@marketingconsulting-online.com) and Garry (G.H.Tregidga@exeter.ac.uk) as soon as possible. We will provide deadlines and format guidelines if you are accepted. Should you have any questions in the meantime, please direct them to either Melanie or Garry.
