Remembered Today:

Officers Died 1914 and 1916

Hi All, :)

I have a copy of two Cd Roms One being Officers Died 1914 and the other being Officers Died 1916. They, by no means cover all the Officers probably a couple of hundred on each. If anyone would like a lookup just let me know.

Second Lieutenant Nigel John Lawson Boyd

1st Btn, Black Watch ( Royal Highlanders )

Died Aged 20 on 12-10-14

Son of William Boyd, The King's Body Guard (Royal Company Of Archers)

And Mrs Laura Boyd.

Born at Edinburgh, Educated at Winchester College and Sandhurst.

Buried At Dean or Western Cemetery Edinburgh.

All 1916.

Sorry but no ! Staffs are few and far between !! Just 2 to South Staffs in the 2nd and 8th Battalions and 5 or 6 in the North Staffs.

Not really in terms of information; However this photograph is a much better version then the one I have, and therefore a welcome addition to my research.

COSMO GEORGE GORDON

Second Lieutenant

1st Bn., Northamptonshire Regiment

who died on

Thursday 17 September 1914. Age 20.

and from 1916

HENRY BEGG

Captain

2nd/1st Highland Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps

( Territorial Force )

who died on

Tuesday 14 November 1916 . Age 35

Born at Deal, Kent

Sorry For another poor return on 1916 CD, but at least I have one of them ! Here he is:-

Captain Ian Alexander Grant Ferguson

13th Battalion Royal Scots

Died 11-5-16 Aged 18

One of the youngest Captains in the Army. He went to the front in July 1915 and was at Loos as Machine Gun Officer. His eldest brother was killed in 1915. Son of

Lily.M. Ferguson, of 41, Polwarth Terrace, Edinburgh, and the late Rev. John Grant Ferguson. Native of Pirn, Innerleithen, Peebleshire.

VERMELLES BRITISH CEMETERY Pas De Calais France.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The details are the same as those from CWGC records but to obtain a photograph of the man in 30 minutes is fantastic. His was a long standing military family and this may well explain his inclusion on the Roll.
