Remembered Today:

Cigarette case

Can anyone throw any light (no pun intended!) on this cigarette case, please?
It was given to my wife by a former officer who served in  the Royal Ulster Rifles in WWII, but it seems older than that.
It is made of metal, about 11 cms x 8.5.

The insignia suggests a regiment numbered 58 with connections to Egypt.

The 58th (Rutlandshire) Regiment became the 2nd Battalion, The Northamptonshire regiment in 1881 after amalgamating with the 48th. The 58th had Egypt as an Honour.

On the basis the OP last visited the Forum last Thursday (12th), I will assume he found my response of interest.

I did, and thank you. I apologise for not replying sooner, but I have been unwell.
