GFW Posted 22 December , 2016 Share Posted 22 December , 2016 Hi all, Reading War Diaries, I've found "Blue line", 'Brown line', Black line', ... I would like to known what mean these colors : order to fight ? distance ? priority ? Thanks for your help. Best regards Pierre
Steven Broomfield Posted 22 December , 2016 Share Posted 22 December , 2016 They are the lines of successive waves of an attack's objective: so the first wave would capture the Brown Line, the second the Blue and so on. I suppose they refer to the colour they were drawn on the map. There will also, I am sure, be a routine, so Brown (or whichever is always first, Blue (or whichever) second, and so on
Ron Clifton Posted 22 December , 2016 Share Posted 22 December , 2016 Looking at the maps in the Official History, there does not seem to be any hard and fast rule as to the order of the colours. I think it depended on what crayons the staff officers had to hand at the time. Ron
