Remembered Today:

Berthier 07-15

Recommended Posts

Recently acquired a deactivated Berthier 07-15, from the serial number is a early one, A95999 or beginning of 1916 or possibly end of 1915, the turn down bolt isn't correct and is mismatched.Turned bolt was only on the first 80,000 rifles until they decided on a straight bolt, other than the bolt its pretty much all matching.

Just need to source a correct nose cap as this has a Dutch M95 Mannlicher cap on there for some reason.
Interesting fact the Dutch pretty much copied the Rigby pattern nosecap as an 1888 would lock on if there front sight was further back.

Let me have a look...I may have a nosecap (but I think the piling bar is gone)

What are the markings on the rifle? (arsenal etc)

Hey Chris,
Rifle is Châtellerault made, barrel is 1915 dated and was updated later on as its N marked.

Would this work? The stacking bar is snapped off (so thread is filled) could perhaps be drilled out if you found a bar)

If so PM me you address and I'll send it on

  • 2 years later...

You might have a Senegalese rifle with a mismatched front barrel band, an explanation for the bent bolt.
