I have nearly finished my research on Miss Mabel Jennings who won the Military Medel for 'Coolness and gallantry...when a casualty clearing station was heavily shelled'.

She was stationed as CCS 18 which I see was at 'MALASSISES' in 1917 when she did the deed. Can anyone tell me where this place is or was please as its not in my French atlas.

One other question! Her OC was Lt. Col Bush J.P. CMG, TD. Can anyone tell me what the CMG and TD stand for please.

I hope to have Miss Jennings story published in Medal News later next year.

Thanks and seasons greetings to you all.

Kindest regards

Ian

Thank you all so very much. I didn’t expect to find out where Mallassises was more than pleased with the answers.

I do have an old photocopy of Miss Jennings and was planning to go up to London to the newspaper library to try and get a better picture. Her portrait was published in the Daily Sketch on 14th January 1918.

I would be most grateful if you could send me a picture Stuart

I recently found Mabel’s grave in Tibberton Gloucester.

Thanks Ian
