asanewt Posted 28 November , 2016 Share Posted 28 November , 2016 (edited) By chance looked up this record http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/81744/OWEN, IORWERTH RICHARD following a chat with the present hosts at the White Horse Inn. This angle shows his name on the panel and his parents' home. I understand that Canadian records are complete. Can someone say what RTE denotes in rank/job column please? robins2 Posted 28 November , 2016 Share Posted 28 November , 2016 I would suggest that his rank is Pte. and a pen/pencil mark looks like the P changed to R, as far as I know there is no Canadian rank of RTE regards Bob R.
Phil Evans Posted 28 November , 2016 Share Posted 28 November , 2016 (edited) It looks like it is a typo and should read Pte. I don't think the CEF service records have got as far as "O" yet, but his Circumstances of Death card is here. Phil Edit: I assume you are referring to the Grave Registratiion Report amongst the CWGC documents, where RTE occurs?
