jan9 Posted 27 November , 2016 Share Posted 27 November , 2016 Hi, I am trying to learn more about my Granduncle Leonard Sutcliffe's WW1 service. He originally joined the 2nd British Rifle Brigade and later moved to the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. I know that he was a POW in Munster in August 1918. Is there any way I can find out if he was in 1, 2 or 3 camp? it's unlikely he was in 4 because I believe that was mainly for Russians and non European troops. Also is there any way to find out where he was captured? He was born 23 August 1899 in Brierfield near Nelson in Lancashire. He survived the war and received the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Any help appreciated. Thanks Jan

charlie2 Posted 28 November , 2016 Share Posted 28 November , 2016 Do not use the forename when searching the ICRC database, otherwise the search engine tries to take you to someone with a surname like "Olivercromwell" http://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/File/Search#/3/2/107/0/British and Commonwealth/Military/Sutcliffe Charlie
jan9 Posted 28 November , 2016 Author Share Posted 28 November , 2016 Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, both Leonard's cards for the Rifle Brigade and Kings Royal Rifles are blank and the Leonard Sutcliffe of the 10th Rifles isn't him.
