pottertea Posted 26 November , 2016 Share Posted 26 November , 2016 Recently I was sent a few photos of 2 medals that a family member of mine got in WWI I have done searches for his records but cant find none he has a few number on his medals The info on the 1914 - 1915 Star is No. 27843 PTE B. McMahon L Pool R -------------------------------------------------------------- But the number on the Vicory medal is 27848 private B. McMahon Liverpool Regiment It looks like maybe the 8 has not been stamped correctly and it looks like a 3 -------------------------------------------------------------------- The only thing I can find that might be his medal cards Is this record but this again doesn't match In the British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920 Name: Bernard McMahon Regiment or Corps: The King's (Liverpool) Regiment Regimental Number: 27643 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Can any kind person find anything on this soldier for me please. Kind Regards, Tom
Langdon Posted 27 November , 2016 Share Posted 27 November , 2016 His Victory and British War Medal Roll on Ancestry shows him as 27643 in the 1st and 11th Battalions of the King's Liverpool Regiment and the 14/15 Star Roll also has him as 27643 (disembarking in France on 21st December 1915). Can't see a surviving service record there for him.. Mike
sotonmate Posted 27 November , 2016 Share Posted 27 November , 2016 First landed as draft for 1 Battalion of 6 Infantry Brigade of 2 Division. Somewhere along the way he transferred to 11 Battalion which was the Pioneer unit for 14 Division.Early 1918 that Division suffered heavy losses and 11 Bn.was returned to the UK low in numbers. BM then returned to 1 Battalion to see the war out.
