What's the story behind the statue? I'm aware of the fighting that rook place here in 1917 but I'm intrigued by the statue itself, has it any significance to the events of 1917? When was it erected etc. any help much appreciated

That's interesting John, vandalism or repair I wonder. The statue is over 100 years old and was there when the 1917 attack on Cherisy went in.

The Plinth was there but not statue 2 years ago, also there were a lot of building materials near the statue when visited. I asked about it in the thread about Cherisy but got no reply as to what was going on at the time.
