Simon Jones Posted 14 November , 2016 Share Posted 14 November , 2016 I'm trying to establish whether 'J Hewitt' who appears on the Booth Line Roll of Honour is the same as Sapper John Hewitt 86455 RE, formerly Private 2289 8/KLR, who was killed serving with 185th Tunnelling Company on 4 February 1916. He was one of the 16 men buried at Becourt who were gassed underground. According to http://www.merseysiderollofhonour.co.uk/memorials/liverpool/central/boothline.php and http://www.merseysiderollofhonour.co.uk/getu.php?id=4077 the Booth Line roll states 'Private J Hewitt 8th Bn Liverpool Regt. Died from Gas Poisoning (Sculleryman)' Can anyone with access to the Booth Line Roll of Honour confirm the exact wording? Many thanks Simon
