Alan24 Posted 16 October , 2016 Share Posted 16 October , 2016 Anyone in the Winchester area on Thursday evening may be interested in this event. Probably based around the Winchester War Service Register which lists men of Winchester and their addresses. Tickets still available as of yesterday. www.hyde900.org.uk/events/hyde-soldiers-1916-2016/
Alan24 Posted 21 October , 2016 Author Share Posted 21 October , 2016 Great community event last night at St. Bartholomew's Church, Winchester. This was the third of 5 annual events, this year focusing on those local men killed in 1916. Song and poetry of the day together with a very professional narrative of the war during 1916. Also attended by Cadet Officers from Worthy down and Kevin from Eggheads. Met Steve & Jenny Jarvis whom some of you will know. Did anyone else from the forum go? john w. Posted 21 October , 2016 Share Posted 21 October , 2016 Unfortunately no, but I am now researching those who fell in the Great War who graduated from the old King Alfreds teacher training College (now the University of Winchester), a large chunk of them went in the 1/4th Hampshire Regt TF
Alan24 Posted 21 October , 2016 Author Share Posted 21 October , 2016 (edited) Hi John, would this be the 14 men from B Coy. 1/4th Hants who include TE Adlam who won the VC? Alan. edit. I think those 14 were survivor who reunited on the 40th anniversary in 1954. TE Adlam was with 7th Bedfordshire R, cant find a link to Hants.
