I'm looking for any regiment info for a relative of; 159031 Lance Bombardier Alec Charles Brown Gunner with Royal Horse Artillery killed in action 22/08/1918 Any info would be much appreciated. Gaz. Langdon Posted 28 September , 2016 Share Posted 28 September , 2016 Here are the war diaries at the National Archives - downloadable for £3.45. He is in the Register of Soldier's Effects on Ancestry (under 'Alea Charles') which shows the war gratuity of £8.10s. I think this indicates that he enlisted (at Bedford) in or about August 1916, but I may well be corrected by an expert! The grantee (as opposed to nearest kin or sole legatee) I think reads as Frederick A S Cox. He was 20 when he was killed. Mike Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
