Hi

I was wondering if someone can help locate a citation for a  the solider below> I looked on the Gazette but can't find why he won it or which war diary to look in as I have no idea which to look for ...  all I know is that he was in the 65th Signal Company (tollcross) but which division or battalion would that be ?  any assistance would be most welcome ..

A few unit war diaries do indicate at the time of the award what action it was for - but not many.

Edit:

It is also worth looking to see if there was an obituary when the man died.  Again these are very inconsistent.

There is also (just to keep you busy) quite a lot of detail in the 19th Division Headquarters diary.

16 pages of 'normal diary' and then 172 pages of appendices covering all of September 1915.

Plus a list of medical posts, reproduced below.
