Thank you for posting.

Once again, the list contains men who were killed in action.(Stark, Salmond and I presume Crawley).

Although it is wonderful that these men are now commemorated, I still find it intriguing, yet very sad that they weren't remembered at the time.

Is there a common reason why this was so?

Did they have no friends, family or comrades left to remember their deaths even then?

I realise that in the heat of battle, men went missing and lost without trace, and that battalion records would have taken a while to be updated, but I find it difficult to understand why a hundred years have passed before due recognition is given.

I can understand that post discharge deaths especially post war can be difficult to prove, I hadn't realised it was so hard to prove the deaths of those KIA.

Very good work, your efforts are appreciated.

To put it very simply most of the KIA cases are clerical cock ups where people where simply missed off the lists

Hi Chris

Really pleased that his grave was found. The archivist at Mitchell Library searched the records there for cemeteries close to his address, and I was waiting for further info when she was able to access the Western Necropolis records.

Will the Commission erect a headstone for him, or is it a family grave?

At present Eddie I am awaiting further confirmation from CWGC as they were not happy with the info I provided as there was a lack of evidence that we had got the right man.
