So it wasn't a actually injury caused by or with a aircraft at war?

But saying that, many things can happen to trigger off pneumonia

Welcome,

Not every one has everything [I certainly don't] but will start with a bit of a basic and we can see where further it leads us several years after the first posting - the cumulative power of GWF is awesome!

This is his CWGC link https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/364791/BERTRAM ARTHUR BAGNALL - it is essentially the same info as the post above but will allow you to get a free certificate of commemoration

Here's a further snippet from the RAF Museum StoryVault collection - His Muster Roll [at 1918 I think - start of the RAF] with more info on him and his service - shows he joined up in 1916 so think we need to look wider before the RAF was born.

http://www.rafmuseumstoryvault.org.uk/archive/bagnall-b.a

Of course if you would care to share a bit more of earlier genealogy or personal info on him with us it often helps us find further material/information

Hope this helps and that we hear again from you.

Circumstantially think this is potentially him - a Royal Naval Air Service medal roll I believe [the RNAS being a forerunner/part of the later RAF]

Think we need to check out the Royal Naval records for BAGNALL, BA, F.345 to see if it fits further.

:-) M

Edit:

I'm not very familiar with Naval medal records or their medals - I'm wondering what the "Number of Medal  631" means ?? - Hope others can inform you better.

And a small snip from the rear which adds the rest and matches his Navy Record & LG so far as the MiD - adding his other war medals and dates in France.

Not at all a problem - commonly awake at this hour! - Doing GWF!!

179991089_BAGNALLBA200345(2).png.835ad8e55f3384f90a7c25a294c61e84.png

A 1914 Star is shown - this seems a little unusual given his recorded RNAS service in France seems to be from 1915 - so given his apparent enlistment in the Navy of 9 September 1914 I suspect possibly a shorthand for a 1914-15 Star [or perhaps he went to sea with the Navy before 1915 ?? - Other GWF members may be able to interpret better/advise - not least querying myself because in the first snip for RNAS I posted above it makes reference to a clasp (but I'm not at all sure if the Navy even got 5 August and 22 November 1914 clasps ??) - however I alternatively think this reference to a clasp may possibly also cover an oak leaf emblem for his MiD - normally would have been worn on the ribbon of his Victory Medal].  I await considered and valued opinion from others on this Star

And  he got a British War Medal and a Victory Medal of course.

Think I've ground to a halt at the moment.

Hopefully others will be along to add more, and to correct as necessary!

Couldn't resist one last post today.

The War Graves Photographic Project appear to have a photo of his grave [kerbs it appears]

https://www.twgpp.org/photograph/view/4284816 - you can order from them [never done so but presumably/hopefully better quality than this snip I offer as an intro]

We can't really discuss WW2 here on GWF

However ... you could try ww2Talk http://ww2talk.com/index.php [sort of similar to GWF]

And it is commonly possible to get post-WW1/more recent service records from https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

For Deceased see:

https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/apply-for-someone-elses-records

- there may unfortunately be a long wait - there usually is - and Covid is commonly not speeding up such applications!
