Tom Goode Posted 9 September , 2016 Share Posted 9 September , 2016 To supply the airfields and support the forces fighting along the Somme a Broad Gauge Railway was constructed from Conchil le Temple along the valley of the Authie River terminating at Candas. I am not sure if the line was constructed by the British RE or a Canadian Railway construction unit. I understand that in August 1918 the operations on the line were taken over by the 5Australian broad Gauge Railway Operating Coy (My particular interest) from the Canadians. I am seeking a copy of a map to complete my research. Appreciate any help. Regards Tom Goode
peterjohndye Posted 25 October , 2016 Share Posted 25 October , 2016 The attached images, prepared for a future article in the Cross & Cockade Journal, indicate the course of the railway. I have used post-war French aerial photographs (available on the Geoportail site) to map the old rail bed. You will note that the junction with the Nord line was to the south of Conchil le Temple
