Jockbhoy67 Posted 27 August , 2016 Share Posted 27 August , 2016 Planning a trip to the Somme in October, would like to visit where a relative was seriously wounded with the 2nd Royal Berkshire Regt in May 1918 at Monks Quarry which is I have been told is in the Morchain area, but i can find no mention of it's location, any forum members have any idea where it is? any info gratefully received. Cheers.
sjustice Posted 30 August , 2016 Share Posted 30 August , 2016 (edited) Hi Jock, The line was miles west of Morchain in May 1918. I think you mean March 1918 (24th), which may unconfuse some members. The trench map you need is 66D NW2 Morchain. Cheers, SMJ Edited 30 August , 2016 by sjustice Update Map Ref

sjustice Posted 31 August , 2016 Share Posted 31 August , 2016 (edited) No worries. Aye your luck is that it's probably the only map of that resolution missing from online sources! It is defo available at TNA, as I have notes on it. Check for more zoomed versions as well; any time between 1916 and 1918. Good luck! Cheers, SMJ Edited 31 August , 2016 by sjustice Add info on other versions of map
