TEW Posted 6 August , 2020 Share Posted 6 August , 2020 Old post I know but have just found an account of the sinking of HS Galeka. Two typed up pages by Capt. Alfred E Seller RAMC. OC HMHS GALEKA. Dated 29/10/16, Havre. In diary WO95/4032/4. The sisters amassing on the deck were in a state of dishabelle which I had to look up. Modesty ruled, so they were ushered into the lounge of a sinking ship presumably to avert the gaze of men trying to lower lifeboats. Good Captain Seller, prioritising correctly. Who knows? Perhaps more would have drowned had the sisters not been ushered away. TEW
