Remembered Today:

Partial Casualty Lists

Recommended Posts

This thread is connected to "Casualty Lists" in Other Great War Chat. I have agreed with Diane that unless the full list, showing dates, hospital details and reason for admission are clearly visible then I will post these partial lists here. I will start an index which will include the RE names on the lists already posted since Diane has not indexed them. The index will be RE other ranks only 1916. This first one is for 1916, there are a number of names with no 1914-15 Star and the Service Record for 36146 2/Cpl Trollop A (correct name Trollope) shows that he transferred to Fenny Stratford on 14/10/1916. The purpose is to identify the Units of the Sappers but, ideally, corroboration is needed.

Brian

EDIT Dates to October 1916.

This Army Form W 3202 came as a result of a FMP check on 104509 Spr T Pashley, whose name appears in the Times OCL 14/11/1916 under RE wounded. It identifies his Unit as 228 FC (41 Div). He is named in the WD of 228 FC as being wounded on the night of 7-8/10/1916. There are some detailed reports of the action in the Unit WD and in the WD of CRE 41 Div.

No 1914-15 Stars for William Watson, Albert Overton (correct number 121018) or Fred Reynolds. There are a number of other mistakes e.g 53605 Good should be Goode, 115696 Bresland should be Presland and 2818 Brassett should be 3818 Brassett. I am indexing in the names shown on the form but also showing correct names and numbers.

EDIT Dates to November 1916.

I have indexed all these partial lists that appear on this thread and on Casualty Lists in Other Forum (between posts 526 and 604). I have included the correct details of the Sappers from MICs/SMARs. On each of these lists so far at least two Sappers have no 1914-15 Stars.

On this list 44762 Anderson J and 79479 Hughes A appear in the Times OCL 20/11/1916 under RE wounded.

EDIT: Dates to October 1916.

All the Killed shown on SDGW as 31/12/1915 apart from Spr Howes who is shown as 31/12/1918. This is a mistake. All killed and wounded are named in the WD of 128 FC on 31/12/1915. The party was fitting up charges of gun cotton at the Brasserie, Chapelle Armentieres for an operation with the Infantry when the gun cotton exploded.
