gordon92 Posted 9 August , 2016 Share Posted 9 August , 2016 I have reached a stone wall in trying to discover what the red/green medal riband is that is positioned the right of the trio in the photo below. I would be grateful if someone could identify it for me.

Knotty Posted 9 August , 2016 Share Posted 9 August , 2016 (edited) Looks more like the Belgian Croix de Guerre to me. Green stripes on red not red on green as the French John Edited 9 August , 2016 by Knotty

gordon92 Posted 10 August , 2016 Author Share Posted 10 August , 2016 Many thanks for your help to all who have weighed in on this. The Belgian Croix de Guerre it is! As I am trying to identify the original owner of this medal set, would anyone know if a medal roll for British winners of the Belgian Croix de Guerre is accessible online anywhere? I do know that the soldier was a Cameron Highlander.
MaureenE Posted 10 August , 2016 Share Posted 10 August , 2016 If you can’t find anything else online, there are records at the National Archives WO 388/7/1-6, "Decorations awarded to British and Dominion army personnel by the following countries: Belgium…" 1914 Nov 01 - 1928 May 31, each of which can be downloaded for £3.45, or perhaps you may be able to locate an institution or Library which has a "subscription" to the National Archives where you can access digital material for free. ( I am aware of one such Library in Australia) Perhaps the Highlanders' Museum could help? http://www.thehighlandersmuseum.com Cheers Maureen

The download at WO 388/7/1-6 looks promising, and I will pursue that. Mike
