Gensmartie Posted 1 August , 2016 Share Posted 1 August , 2016 Requiring some help understanding Ovillers 1:5,000 trench map marking points to be captured. How are these points numbered as there are several of the same number but I would like to understand how they were given these numbers. I already under the grid referencing given to different scales but the individual numbering has managed to confuse me.
sheldrake Posted 1 August , 2016 Share Posted 1 August , 2016 I am not 100% sure which may you are referring to. However, the double digit numbers on trench maps can be the Eastings and Northings within the a,b,c,d quadrant of the map square, as per this trench map of the Serre sector. clk Posted 1 August , 2016 Share Posted 1 August , 2016 Hi Gensmartie. Would it be possible to post your original reference, or a link to it, so that Pals can better understand your query? Regards Chris
Gensmartie Posted 2 August , 2016 Author Share Posted 2 August , 2016 Reference map as inserted . Am I thinking the numbers of points are like co ordinates?
Hull17KSLI Posted 4 August , 2016 Share Posted 4 August , 2016 The numbers shown are co-ordinates, they follow the axis of the square.
