PRIVATE W S WATKINS

Hi, I am looking for some help please. My father died recently and we have come across 3 medals which we presume had belonged to a WW1 pal of his father. We know quite a lot about my Grandfathers war time history but nothing about the owner of these medals. We felt it might be nice to try and track any living relatives so we can return them. So this is what I know, my Grandfather was Gnr Stanley Price 118392 and he served with 169 brigade RFA. The name on the British war medal and Victory medal is 469 Private W.S.WATKINS WELSH R. We also have a WW2 Defence medal with no name.  We have to presume that  Private Watkins served with my Grandfather.

Any help would be great as these medals should be with his family.

Thanks

There's a 469 William S Watkins in the 1/4th Battalion of the Welsh Regiment, who served in the Balkans - see this from The Long, Long Trail. As well as the British and Victory medals he received the 1914 Star. Is the number definitely 463?

Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply, you are right it is 469. We only have the medals that I mentioned so not sure about the 1914 Star. I will check out the link in your message, many thanks.
