Remembering Driver Richard Hopkinson of 5th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, who died of malignant peritonitis on 27th July 1916, aged 54. He was the oldest former pupil of Bury Grammar School, Lancashire to die on active service in the Great War and the only one of the 97 old boys on our War Memorial not to have been a pupil under Headmaster Revd W. H. Howlett.
