Gloucester Police before ww1 soldier

Searching for a photograph of my ancestor who was in the 2nd Grenadier Guards but was previously in the Gloucestershire Police Constabulary. Is there any archive I could consult where the chance of a photograph might help?

Afternoon

I know the Gloucestershire records office have a large group photo of Gloucestershire policemen who volunteered for service in late 1914/early 1915. I have a note of all the names of the men on the photo, if you let me know the name of the man you are researching I will be able to tell you if he appears on the photo. I also believe that next year the record office will be opening an archive dedicated to the Gloucestershire Constabulary.

Regards - Andy

Thanks Andy,

His name is George Ingram warrant no. 3997 posted to Stow Division and then Gloucester enlisted in Grenadier Guards in Sept 1914

Thanks Graeme and Andy

Have already seen Gloucestershire Police lost at war and photo is general one. I'll keep hoping one pops up somewhere.

Hi Graeme, I 'm sure he is wearing stripes I take it you mean he was Lance Corporal , as MiC states that he was. The only thing about his appearance that I have is that I do believe he was a tall chap.
