Gensmartie Posted 26 July , 2016 Share Posted 26 July , 2016 Searching for a photograph of my ancestor who was in the 2nd Grenadier Guards but was previously in the Gloucestershire Police Constabulary. Is there any archive I could consult where the chance of a photograph might help?
Gloslad Posted 27 July , 2016 Share Posted 27 July , 2016 Afternoon I know the Gloucestershire records office have a large group photo of Gloucestershire policemen who volunteered for service in late 1914/early 1915. I have a note of all the names of the men on the photo, if you let me know the name of the man you are researching I will be able to tell you if he appears on the photo. I also believe that next year the record office will be opening an archive dedicated to the Gloucestershire Constabulary. Regards - Andy

Gensmartie Posted 30 July , 2016 Author Share Posted 30 July , 2016 Hi Graeme, I 'm sure he is wearing stripes I take it you mean he was Lance Corporal , as MiC states that he was. The only thing about his appearance that I have is that I do believe he was a tall chap.
