MotherMave Posted 24 July , 2016 Author Share Posted 24 July , 2016 I looked at my notes and I came to the same conclusion, thinking Samuel WEIGH was Samuel WELCH a few years ago, especially as they shared the same date of death, but finding the IWM website and the entry on the page - Imperial War Museum - Memorial Project - http://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/60318 made me think again that they were separate men. But thank you for your input, it makes a difference having someone else look on the subject. Mavis
MotherMave Posted 24 July , 2016 Author Share Posted 24 July , 2016 I have completed the story on Samuel WELCH, his was a very different story and his family have helped me enormously with it with letters etc. So I know they must be separate people especially now I have seen the IWM input. Many thanks, Mavis
ss002d6252 Posted 24 July , 2016 Share Posted 24 July , 2016 If it's not him then I can only think that either the date is wrong or he had served under an assumed name. Craig

MotherMave Posted 24 July , 2016 Author Share Posted 24 July , 2016 No I am afraid I don't, I am going to the Flintshire Record Office on Tuesday, so will try and find out, I know there is a Monumental Inscriptions Book there for Hawarden, but I have never seen any references to whom or when the inscriptions were done. Thanks for the suggestion though it's another avenue to go up. Regards, Mavis
