Hi, I am researching this soldier Samuel Weigh, who is on the Imperial War Museum -Memorials Project as being buried in Hawarden, Flintshire, but I cannot find any Army info, although I know his service records could be among the "Burnt Papers", but no sign anywhere re his medal cards, or on the CWGC or Ancestry "Soldiers died in the Great War."    Can anyone help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I cannot find his birth on the BMD's nor any sign of the family on cenuse's, although there are umpteen WEIGH families in the Hawarden Area.

Any help appreciated.  Many thanks in advance, Mavis Williams

I looked at my notes and I came to the same conclusion, thinking Samuel WEIGH was Samuel WELCH a few years ago, especially as they shared the same date of death, but finding the IWM website and the entry on the page -  Imperial War Museum - Memorial Project - http://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/60318 made me think again that they were separate men.   But thank you for your input, it makes a difference having someone else look on the subject. I have completed the story on Samuel WELCH, his was a very different story and his family have helped me enormously with it with letters etc.   So I know they must be separate people especially now I have seen the IWM input.   Many thanks, Mavis

If it's not him then I can only think that either the date is wrong or he had served under an assumed name.

Do you know who (or when) had the gravestone engraved ?

No I am afraid I don't, I am going to the Flintshire Record Office on Tuesday, so will try and find out, I know there is a Monumental Inscriptions Book there for Hawarden, but I have never seen any references to whom or when the inscriptions were done.   Thanks for the suggestion though it's another avenue to go up.   Regards, Mavis
