Dolphin Posted 22 July , 2016 Share Posted 22 July , 2016 Brig-Gen Clive (I think his initials were G S) and his RAF pilot, Lt William Jelffs, were both lucky to be unharmed after two landing accidents in RE8s of the Headquarters Flight (or perhaps they were unlucky to be involved in them in the first place). On 23 May 1918 RE8 C2298 overturned in a squall while landing at Fouilloy, and on 9 June RE8 D4687 overturned in high wheat after overshooting the aerodrome on return from a flight to the French GQG. I've tried looking for more information on the fortunate/unfortunate General, but so far to no avail. I'll be very grateful if anyone has more information about the man.
