8055Bell Posted 20 July , 2016 Share Posted 20 July , 2016 Any help please? Grenadier Guards? Fusiliers? The family lived in London I think. Born West Ham. Brother killed in 2nd Ypres with 1st Hampshires. Cheers Tim
butler Posted 20 July , 2016 Share Posted 20 July , 2016 Grenadier Guards, the grenade has a larger flame than that of the Royal Fusiliers
8055Bell Posted 20 July , 2016 Author Share Posted 20 July , 2016 Thanks Butler, If I work out who he is I will report back. Tim
Old Owl Posted 20 July , 2016 Share Posted 20 July , 2016 It could also be the Honourable Artillery Company (or HAC). The outline shape is very similar for both. Robert
8055Bell Posted 21 July , 2016 Author Share Posted 21 July , 2016 Thanks Robert, I know little about HAC, but assume it was quite posh. This famliy would be more Guards than HAC, but I'll keep an open mind. Tim
Bordercollie Posted 21 July , 2016 Share Posted 21 July , 2016 Difficult to see in the photograph but if it is HAC there should be the HAC monogram inscribed on the body of the grenade
Steven Broomfield Posted 21 July , 2016 Share Posted 21 July , 2016 The shoulder titles would clinch it - the Guards would have a small grenade above a 'GG' title, whereas the HAC would (I assume) have 'T' above whatever type. You can just about see the shoulder title on his left shoulder: would zooming on that clarify anything?
