SteveMarsdin Posted 18 July , 2016 Share Posted 18 July , 2016 Good afternoon, In this medal roll entry: I know that HT signifies Horse Transport but what does Cat "C" (presumably Category C) indicate ? Thanks, Steve
Terry_Reeves Posted 18 July , 2016 Share Posted 18 July , 2016 Steve It indicates Old Army Special Reserve Horse Transport - Drivers, Roadmasters, Foremen and Wagoners, who had their own number series prior to 1915. Source: Norman Holding, WW1 Ancestry, Federation of family History Societies, 1986. Norman was one of the early researchers into ASC numbers. Waggoner Posted 18 July , 2016 Share Posted 18 July , 2016 Steve, Yes, it means Category "C" Special Reserve, Horse Transport. More importantly, this range of numbers was given to only one unit, the famed Wold Wagoners! All the best, Gary
