Good afternoon,

In this medal roll entry:

Cat C.PNG

I know that HT signifies Horse Transport but what does Cat "C" (presumably Category C) indicate ?

Thanks, Steve

It indicates Old Army Special Reserve Horse Transport   -  Drivers, Roadmasters, Foremen and Wagoners, who had their own number series prior to 1915.

Steve,

Yes, it means Category "C" Special Reserve, Horse Transport. More importantly, this range of numbers was given to only one unit, the famed Wold Wagoners!

All the best,

Gary
