There's an extract from the regiment's war diary posted on Ancestry (for another soldier in the 1st Battalion) which mentions Samuel KIA on 1st June - born in Flintshire and resident in Liverpool. I can PM it to you if you wish.

There is a Liverpool marriage certificate for October 28th 1909 with a Samuel Hilditch (24) marrying an Alice Ann Worthy (25) - with his father John attending. And in the 1911 census this Samuel, born in Cwm Holywell, is living, as a boarder, with his wife Alice in Everton, Liverpool - Samuel aged 26, Alice 27.

I can't see any service records on Ancestry for Samuel to check his age, but the Soldier's Effects which Glen posted above has his widow as "Alice A".
