J.P.L. Posted 11 July , 2016 Share Posted 11 July , 2016 We would like to know more if possible about the War Service of my husband's grandfather Alfred Dennis (born 18th Feb 1859) who originally joined the Army at Chatham in 1877 under the name of George Dennis. He seemed to have spent WW1 on the Isle of Wight. In 1915 he was promoted to Major. His Regimental Number was R.E.14476. J.P.L.

corisande Posted 8 June , 2021 Share Posted 8 June , 2021 His obit in a local paper - click for FmP excerpt. He gives the reporter a lot about the Zulu Wars, but there is nothing about his Army life after being posted to Isle of Wight in 1900.
