angelab Posted 5 July , 2016 Share Posted 5 July , 2016 I have been reading a lot about the aftermath of the war recently, and came across the fact that German prisoners were used for the clearing-up operations in France after 11 Nov 1918. I was a bit surprised, as I imagined that all prisoners would be repatriated fairly soon after hostilities ended, yet here they were doing this - presumably dangerous - work.
