Hello - I'm new to this forum and would be grateful for help. I'm trying to find out more about the 22nd Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry. My Grandfather served with the DLI as a Lieutenant Quartermaster. I'd like to know more about the movements and actions of 22nd Battalion in the period in which he served, from Sept 1915 until his medical discharge in March 1918, and would be grateful for information or further sources.

Many thanks

James

Hi James

Probably the quickest and easiest option is this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Durham-Pals-Battalions-Light-Infantry/dp/1844154955

Bear in mind that it covers three other battalions as well, but it should give you the basics in one handy volume.  In terms of researching individual soldiers using medal index cards, war diaries and other sources, this page from the related Long, Long Trail website should help:

http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/soldiers/

Good luck, all the best

Paul.
