J Banning Posted 2 July , 2016 Share Posted 2 July , 2016 I thought GWF members with an interest in the underground war may like this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-36685270 A daft title but a new, detailed article on the BBC website about the tunnellers' war, in particular the first men of 170 Tunnelling Company. I did the research for this for the BBC back in 2014 with the agreement that it would run to tie in with the centenary of the first clay kickers going to France. 16 months later they have run it, with a Somme twist. Ah well, better late than never. Hope it's of interest. JB
David Ridgus Posted 2 July , 2016 Share Posted 2 July , 2016 Read it this morning with interest Jeremy. I have an A Level English student doing her coursework on the tunnelling war. She has to contrast the fictional account in Birdsong with non-fictional accounts from tunnellers themselves. This will be a really useful condensed overview for her to start with David
