Retired Dave Posted 22 November , 2016 Author Share Posted 22 November , 2016 Dear Kim, Yes that is probably very sound advice. Both my children have respect and interest in their great-grandfather's medals. My son is three years younger than his sister and might be the more obvious choice as custodian, but my likely intention will be to leave the medals and paperwork to them jointly and let them decide how they will be kept. There was no problem with the medals passing to me as I am Herbert Covill's only grandchild. Thanks again Kindest regards Dave
Medaler Posted 22 November , 2016 Share Posted 22 November , 2016 The age old problem of who to pass them to. It needs the wisdom of Solomon. My only advice? NEVER split a group. I say that despite my feeling of complete elation at reuniting a broken trio just 2 weeks ago. Mike
trajan Posted 28 November , 2016 Share Posted 28 November , 2016 I would just add that 'skipping a generation' may be the solution - if available. Grandchildren are either very interested or not as the case might be, so worth a gamble!
