WWI Digger Stories Podcast

Is there any interest in podcasts amongst the forum members these days?

I could not search the forum due to the upgrading to see if anyone has posted about the above podcast, the Macarthur Foundation's "World War 1 Podcast" or Wesley Livesay's "History of the Great War" Podcast?

Digger Stories is my new podcast, featuring memoirs by great war soldiers, with particular emphasis on Australians. The first series relates the Memoirs of Corporal Len Jones of the 3rd Battalion AIF.

Find it on iTunes, Tumblr, twitter @Digger_Stories or on the following link: http://6bobaday.libsyn.com/

Thanks in advance for any interst members may have.

Thanks Tim,

I have toned the Lewis down a bit in the more recent episodes, hope there was an improvement.

I will try to get Episode 1.8 out soon, just a few glitches with sound quality to fix.

Episode 1.9 is now available.....

This covers the period of mid 1918, including the Spring Offensive. Len also gives us further insight into life in and out of the trenches, the thoughts of those back in Blighty, his first look at the AEF (doughboys) and insight into some of the tactics and procedures used in 1918.

Please take a listen and if you enjoy what you hear,

I would appreciate any feedback. Also, it helps to boost the podcast if it is reviewed in iTunes, please go to the iTunes store to do that if you like the "show".

Thanks,

Phil.

Hi folks,

The latest Episode has been released and it is really something. Guest presenter, 15 year old Tom Wark reads a letter from Gallipoli. Bert Smythe recounted his first few days from the landing until he was sniped on 29th April. You would swear Tom was a 1915 digger not a modern Aussie teenager. Please take a listen.

Hi again,

The most recent episode "2.16 Sniper to sniper" is out.

I've had a great response from listeners so far.

This one has Percy in the front line trying a sniper's rifle. He may have got one and was nearly shot by another bloke!

Thanks!

Hi folks,

Here is the latest episode and it's a beauty! The horrific winter of 1916 has started. Mud, frozen feet, more mud.

Here's a bit: "Turned off to the left, to some old disused trenches, near where was a wrecked "tank", one of those Hun-dreaded monsters which are the latest development of modern warfare."

Also, here is the link to the one before:

Hope you like them!

Hi folks,

The latest episode of WWI Digger Stories Podcast is out! In this one, Percy nearly dies in freezing mud, digs bodies out of a wall to get supplies, nearly eats blood soaked biscuits and, gasp, does not turn down the service rum. He also goes to train in bomb school!

I also provide a short account of the later fighting at Mont St Merris in 1918 as related by Percival “Topsy” Turvey, DCM & MM.

Here is the Apple Podcasts link (iTunes). I will provide the direct download link in a couple days, if this is a problem.
