DJM Posted 13 June , 2016 Share Posted 13 June , 2016 A new study supports what a small group of military researchers has suspected for decades: that modern warfare destroys the brain: What if PTSD Is More Physical Than Psychological? http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/12/magazine/what-if-ptsd-is-more-physical-than-psychological.html?smprod=nytcore-ipad&smid=nytcore-ipad-share This article reports recent research published in The Lancet Neurophysiology that suggests that exposure to blast causes highly specific physical injuries to the brain, different to those caused by concussion or drug addictions which also cause visible brain damage. It's a well written and thought provoking piece that makes frequent reference to the emergence of shell shock, and the discharges and executions linked to behaviours which would now be explained as blast injuries.
