Chris_B Posted 6 June , 2016 Share Posted 6 June , 2016 My small tribute to Walter Ewing lost with the sinking of the Hampshire - born 1898 in Merton, lived in Nelson Fields and Hamilton Road, attended Haydons Road Schools in the same years as my grandmother and one of her brothers. Joined the Navy at sixteen in January 1914, served on HMS Hampshire since in February 1915. Read his story at https://mitchamwarmemorial.wordpress.com/2016/06/05/walter-ewing-lost-with-the-hampshire/ Now remembered on a new memorial stone wall dedicated last night at Orkney: http://www.orcadian.co.uk/2016/06/hundreds-gather-remember-loss-hms-hampshire/
