sotonmate Posted 31 May , 2016 Share Posted 31 May , 2016 Ian WD says " 8 May 1915. Heavy bombardment of trenches about daybreak and continued incessantly until later the line was broken by a fierce infantry attack made with overwhelming numbers. Killed 17 ORs. Wounded 3 Officers/200 ORs. Missing 10 O and 152 ORs". Diary names RSM WANT (6510. Arthur) as one of them. It says RSM. Large replacement draft received 2 days later ! Coldstreamer Posted 1 June , 2016 Author Share Posted 1 June , 2016 Thanks for the info. Im assuming this is my relative as he is the only Arthur Want listed and the DOB I found on POW records matches when he was born. Family history is that he served in the Boer War saying he was older (QSA confirmed) and later in ww2 lying about his age saying younger. Might have emigrated to Australia ?
