Excellent research Tom, well done to you and your family on all this work.

You should consider doing all of Ireland. (You've probably collected thousands of names incidentally anyway). From my own stats on the flying services between two-fifths and half of the casualties were from the area that ultimately became Northern Ireland. Although I doubt it'd be a similar figure for the Irish regiments it'd nevertheless put the overall figure of Irish dead well north of 40,000.

However, for the moment please get some more of your excellent research into published format. (Even if some counties would not be commercially viable on their own then do please think about doing the war dead by year/theatre of operation/location of memorials: it'd be great to have it out there for a wider audience to appreciate).

Well done.

Thank you kindly Airshipped. I have considered doing the 6 counties, but concentrated on what could be achieved, the 26 counties being the 'easier' option instead of the 32. Antrim is the main county that would take the longest time and more than one person doing it. It will have more casualties than Cork but less than Dublin. Antrim has great newspapers, at least one of them a daily stuffed full of data (thanks to Nigel Henderson for the Belfast ones!!). Derry and Fermanagh should be easy enough, I am not sure about Armagh, Down and Tyrone as I have not done any of those papers. A county cannot be done correctly unless all the newspapers are gone through.

Sorting the casualties by date is far less user friendly than one single alphabetical list, with the county in brackets beside each name I reckon. If I could get backing (preferably from the Government) I would be happy for the lot to be published and replace IMR,( I dont want a single penny, it just to remember our heroes). Perhaps they might see this post and, who knows? Pagewise it contains 7,000 pages and about 8,000 images from books, newspapers etc.

If I were pushed to put a figure on the 32 counties I would expect it to be around 42,000.

Kind regards.

Tom.
